Bingo History: Sweet History of Game

If we dig deep into the history of Bingo, we can see that the history of Bingo dates back to 16th century. It was first played in Italy. The game was then called “Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia”. In 18th century Frenchmen played a game called “Le Lotto” which was quite similar. Beans were first used to cover numbers on the cards and upon each win, the players used to yell ‘beano’ when it was first played in the countryside.

To discover teh exact manner in which the name transformed, we need to go through the history of Bingo in detail. A particular incident in history brought this name into existence. In 1929, a toy seller from New York, named Edwin S. Lowe, saw some people playing Beano in a carnival near Atlanta. History reveals that people were so involved in the game that the dealer had to disperse the crowd with much difficulty.

Then as history tells us, Lowe organized a Beano event in New York. It is said that one day a player yelled “bingo” instead of “beano” in a fit of excitement and ever since Beano has been called Bingo. In fact, Bingo gained momentum after this interesting incident behind its nomenclature in history.

Modern Bingo consists of different types of games that took shape after many changes in the game recorded by history. With the advent of technology, many new forms of the game were developed. New rounds with graphics, animation and other bonus rounds were included in the game. With a long history, Bingo has traveled far and wide gaining popularity throughout.
